Dessie Clark implements and conducts research on interventions and educational modules designed to increase the diversity of faculty and leaders in academic science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM). Dr. Clark received an M.Ed. in Community Development and Action from Vanderbilt University and a PhD in Community Sustainability from Michigan State University. Given her training, she approaches equity issues with an eye toward fostering a sense of community. She specializes in program evaluation, curriculum development, research, and trainings for programs and organizations dedicated to gender equity issues. Dr. Clark is also a member of the Steering Committee for the American Physical Associations Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Alliance (APS-IDEA). In this role, she serves on the Assessment Working Group and the Workload Ad Hoc Committee.
