Molly Carnes, MD MS, Co-director of WISELI, Director of the UW Center for Women’s Health Research, and Professor of Medicine, Psychiatry, and Industrial & Systems Engineering is one of ten UW–Madison faculty recipients of a WARF Named Professorship which honors faculty who have made major contributions to the advancement of knowledge. Each recipient chooses the names associated with their professorship and Dr. Carnes has named her professorship in honor of Virginia Valian. As the Virginia Valian Professor, Carnes will continue to implement and study evidence-based strategies for breaking the bias habit in order to foster the institutional changes needed to make academic medicine, science, and engineering welcoming and supportive of all potential talent.
